Award-winning wines at Grace Santorini

The popular Assyrtiko Wild Ferment from Gaia Estate won a gold medal at the recent Decanter World Wine 2015 Awards. According to Decanter the wine has “an amazing, almost Burgundian nose, with white flowers, acacia and touches of ginger forming the core. The palate is complex and evolves in the mouth, revealing vibrant fruit and a strong mineral structure. An excellent, highly polished wine with a long finish which leaves you with flavours of ripe, engaging fruit.” It is the perfect match for Chef Spyros’s seared octopus with deep fried polenta and lime truffle honey dressing, available on our tasting menu. The elegant oak notes, intense minerals and rich feel are perfectly balanced and complement the smokiness of the octopus with the crispy polenta crust and aromatic truffle dressing.

The Argyros Estate’s Assyrtiko Argyros 2014, another Decanter award-wining wine has “an absolutely beautiful expression of the jewel that is Santorini. The nose begins with fragrant summer herbs and white flowers, before revealing Williams pear and minerals. Elegant, precise and crystalline, the palate is gloriously fresh and run through with minerality, yet coats the mouth with citrus fruit laden with thyme, oregano.” Chef Spyros recommends pairing it with our Amberjack Carpaccio, sea urchin and pickled vegetable salad served with iced Tsikoudia. The wine’s crispy freshness and distinct character are a perfect match for this gentle acidity dish full of sea flavours.

We offer Champagne breakfasts every day and fine dining by starlight – your perfect romantic restaurant in Santorini awaits. Hospitality and gastronomy at its best.
