Mykonos, Cyclades, Greece
Arguably the most famous of the Greek islands, Mykonos has established itself as one of the world's most popular tourist resorts and is Greece's undisputed 'Jetset' destination.
While many visitors, including the rich and famous, are attracted by its exciting night life and party atmosphere, Mykonos in fact offers a full range of experiences from cultural and archaeological attractions to a choice of beaches and many hidden corners offering a peaceful escape.
The heart of the island is the cosmopolitan Mykonos Town or ‘Chora'. It boasts classic Cycladic architecture with its typical cube-like buildings, all set around an idyllic fishing-village bay. The maze of narrow streets and alleyways behind the waterfront offers an array of shops, boutiques, bars and restaurant catering for every need.
The landscape is stark but dramatic setting deep blue skies against dark seas. And, typically for the Cyclades, there are many well preserved windmills to be found as well as hundreds of picturesque churches and chapels.
